End The Menace Now!

It is heartbreaking to keep reading horrific news of Boko Haram terrorists raiding the North Eastern states and killing so many people, thus leaving behind trails of sorrow, anguish and blood after each raid. How long shall we continue to act like this isn't an affront on humanity? Does the distance make us immune to the havoc being unleashed upon the residents of these states? We cannot continue to keep silent and hope that things will settle down after elections or that these nefarious beasts would have a change of heart and move on to another country. they have shown that they are here to stay and conquer, and by Jove they appear to be winning at their bloody game.

They appear to be winning and taking over territories because we allow them. Yes, you and I and the Nigerian government have allowed this menace to fester for far too long. I say ENOUGH, LET"S END IT NOW!!!!! These are  human beings like us being subjected to dehumanizing and torturous deaths, being held in captivity and made to do unimaginable things. These are real people, not cattle. It is high time we all stand up and demand immediate action and an end to these victimization by Boko Haram.

It is all over the news that mayhem has been unleashed on the town of Baga in Borno by Boko Haram terrorists and about 2000 Nigerian citizens are unaccounted for. Word has it that the town and at least 14 other neighbouring towns have been taken over completely by these terrorists. Why is nothing tangible being done to put an end to all of these?

Our president was in Lagos yesterday to begin his political campaign for a reelection while our land burns. While teeth are being gnashed in anguish and pains and the soil is turned red with the spilled blood of innocent Nigerians whose only crimes were being in the states chosen by these terrorists, our president campaigns. He campaigns. These lives do matter Mr. President, they matter a lot.

While we have thousands of displaced people as a result of this one-sided war with Boko Haram, some people are there donating heavy money to foot the president's campaign bill. People are dying from lack of food, shelter, water, drugs and all that but never mind that. No, let's raise money for election. Our priorities are as twisted as they are misplaced.

The other day, I had a nightmare about an outbreak of war and I was caught up in the middle of it, in Mubi to be precise. It was a horrible experience and I woke up emotionally drained from it. There was chaos everywhere as we all ran helter-skelter to avoid being spotted and slain by Boko Haram. It gave me a bit of an insight into what the residents of these Northern towns and villages have been going through. We are clearly losing it in Nigeria and we must end the menace now.
